"We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little life is rounded with a sleep."

Marcel Proust

The OxNet English course is new to 2021. It is run in partnership between Pembroke College, University of Oxford and Oldham Sixth Form College. The programme of seminar study is focused around Postcolonial Literature, and in particular:

  • Racism and Inequality

  • Gender and Sexuality

  • Environment and eco-poetics

  • Freedom and Independence

  • Hybridity

A number of texts will be studied during this course, but some include: The Tempest; Girl, Woman, Other; The Color Purple; Midnight's Children; and Beloved.

Pupils on all six Year 12 strands participate in Access Week at the end of the intensive course, allowing for space and time to be dedicated to more specific areas of study led by our team of tutors.
